Loreto
Loreto is the most important spiritual center in the Marche region and known worldwide for being home to the Holy House, or the original home of the Virgin Mary of Nazareth. Yes, the one in which Mary was born, grew up and where the angel Gabriel announced to her the birth of Jesus! Legend has it that the dwelling was miraculously carried through the air by some angels.
However, Loreto is not just a city of faith. It is also known for its artistic craftsmanship, silverwork, and rich food and wine traditions, with local specialties such as vincisgrassi (a type of baked lasagna), brodetto (a traditional fish soup), crescia sfogliata and the beloved olive all’ascolana.
